When you finish your lap or whatever it is your doing, hold your wrist out of the water and push whatever buttons you need. I just press em all, no problems so far (fenix 5 plus sapphire), and friends of mine (735xt, 935, 945, fenix 5 plus titanium, vivoactive 3) do the same, no problems so far. I went through 3 935's due to water getting
try soaking in warm water with dawn dishsoap. then try compressed air at the buttons. if you don’t have an air compressor and small nozzle, the cans of air used for cleaning computers should work. Soak, blast, repeat. took me about 5/6 treatments but saved the watch. it was power button that was stuck so yeah it wont stay on as it was acting
u/phillypharm. Should be able to unplug is and hold down the power button to shut it off and then power it back on. If it continues to boot in to that mode, you have likely flagged the "forced" mode if you scroll through the menu using the back button you will see if it says enabled or disabled.

Just replace the button I think is difficult, but it is not difficult to replace the lower case kit. I have a Garmin Fenix 5x and the temperature, altimeter and barometer sensors didn't work for me, I ordered the lower case via ebay and I personally replaced everything myself. Now everything is working properly.

Since you mentioned your gesture is working properly During an Activity, please go to your System > Backlight menu and double check your Not During an Activity setting for gesture is also set to On. (O r maybe set to After Sunset so you won't see it during the day.)
